Here are five reasons to keep fit in your retirement years:

1) It Can Prevent Conditions Such As Obesity and Diabetes In later life, the number of people who are obese or have type 2 diabetes is on the rise. If you’re not already physically active, being unfit in later life is a sure way to increase your risk of developing one of these conditions. Fitness can help reduce the risk of developing these diseases by improving your overall health and reducing your risk of developing other diseases.

2) It Improves Mood And Mental Well-Being Exercise has been shown to improve mood and mental well-being. 

3) It Reduces The Risk Of Spinal Cord Injuries A study published in The Lancet found that people who were physically active had a dramatically lower risk of spinal cord injuries than those who weren’t active. 

      Tips for completing the fitness challenges

1. Start with a short race or competition. Short races (<5k) are great for beginners because they are easy to set up and manage. 

2. Choose an obstacle course that is different from what you’re used to. Obstacle courses can be particularly challenging if you don’t have any experience with them. 

3. Set realistic goals for yourself and then work towards them one step at a time. Don’t expect to complete an entire obstacle course in one go – take it step by step and focus on completing the most difficult sections first.
